Some people compare tires to shoes worn by people, which is not bad. However, they have never heard of the story that a burst sole will cause human life. However, it is often heard that a burst tire will lead to vehicle damage and human death. Statistics show that more than 70% of traffic accidents on expressways are caused by tire burst. From this point of view, tires are more important to vehicles than shoes to people.
However, users only check and maintain the engine, brake, steering, lighting and so on, but ignore the inspection and maintenance of tires, which has laid a certain hidden danger for driving safety. This paper summarizes the ten taboos of using tires, hoping to provide some help for your car life.
1. Avoid high tire pressure. All automobile manufacturers have special regulations on tire pressure. Please follow the label and never exceed the maximum value. If the air pressure is too high, the body weight will concentrate on the center of the tread, resulting in rapid wear of the tread center. When impacted by external force, it is easy to cause injury or even burst tread; excessive tension will cause tread delamination and crack at tread groove bottom; tire grip will be reduced, braking performance will be reduced; vehicle jumping and comfort will be reduced, and vehicle suspension system will be easily damaged.
2. Avoid insufficient tire pressure. Insufficient tire pressure can cause the tire to overheat. Low pressure causes uneven ground area of tire, delamination of tread or cord layer, cracking of tread groove and shoulder, cord fracture, rapid wear of shoulder, shortening service life of tire, increasing abnormal friction between tire lip and rim, causing damage of tire lip, or separation of tire from rim, or even tire burst; At the same time, it will increase the rolling resistance, increase fuel consumption, and affect the control of the vehicle, even lead to traffic accidents.
3. Avoid judging the tire pressure by naked eyes. The average monthly tire pressure will be reduced by 0.7 kg / cm2, and the tire pressure will change with the change of temperature. For every 10 ℃ rise / fall in temperature, the tire pressure will also rise / fall by 0.07-0.14 kg / cm2. The tire pressure must be measured when the tire is cooled, and the valve cap must be covered after measurement. Please form the habit of using the barometer to measure the air pressure frequently, and don’t judge by the naked eye. Sometimes the air pressure runs away a lot, but the tire doesn’t look too flat. Check the air pressure (including spare tire) at least once a month.
4. Avoid using the spare tire as a normal tire. In the process of using the vehicle, if you run 100000 to 80000 km, the user will use the spare tire as a good tire and the original tire as a spare tire. This is absolutely not advisable. Because the use time is not the same, the tire aging degree is not the same, so it is very unsafe.
When a tire breaks down on the road, car owners usually replace it with a spare tire. Some car owners don’t remember to replace the spare tire, forgetting that the spare tire is just a “one in case” tire.
5. Avoid inconsistency of left and right tire pressure. When the tire pressure on one side is too low, the vehicle will deviate to this side during driving and braking. At the same time, it should also be noted that two tires on the same axle should have the same tread pattern specifications, and tires from different manufacturers and different tread patterns can not be used for two front wheels at the same time, otherwise there will be deviation.
6. Avoid tire overload. The structure, strength, air pressure and speed of the tire are determined by the manufacturer through strict calculation. If the tire is overloaded due to non-compliance with the standard, its service life will be affected. According to the experiments of relevant departments, it is proved that when the overload is 10%, the tire life will be reduced by 20%; when the overload is 30%, the tire rolling resistance will increase by 45% – 60%, and the fuel consumption will also increase. At the same time, overloading itself is strictly prohibited by the law.
7. Don’t remove the foreign matter in the tire in time. In the process of driving, the road surface is very different. It is inevitable that there will be miscellaneous stones, nails, iron chips, glass chips and other foreign bodies in the tread. If they are not removed in time, some of them will fall off after a long time, but a considerable part will become more and more “stubborn” and get stuck in the tread pattern deeper and deeper. When the tire is worn to a certain extent, these foreign bodies will even disappear Puncture the carcass, leading to tire leakage or even burst.
8. Don’t ignore the spare tire. The spare tire is usually placed in the rear compartment, where oil and other oil products are often stored. The main component of a tire is rubber, and what rubber fears most is the erosion of various oil products. When a tire is stained with oil, it will swell and corrode quickly, which will greatly reduce the service life of the tire. Therefore, try not to put the fuel and spare tire together. If the spare tire is stained with oil, wash off the oil with neutral detergent in time.
Every time you check the tire pressure, don’t forget to check the spare tire. And the air pressure of the spare tire should be relatively high, so as not to run away for a long time.
9. Avoid tire pressure unchanged. Generally, when driving on expressways, the tire pressure should be increased by 10% to reduce the heat generated by flexion, so as to improve the safety of driving.
Increase the tire pressure properly in winter. If the tire pressure is not properly increased, it will not only increase the fuel consumption of the car, but also accelerate the wear of the car tires. But it should not be too high, otherwise it will greatly reduce the friction between the tire and the ground and weaken the braking performance.
10. Don’t pay attention to the use of repaired tires. The repaired tire should not be installed on the front wheel, and should not be used for a long time on the highway. When the sidewall is damaged, because the sidewall is thin and is the deformation area of the tire in use, it mainly bears the circumferential force from the air pressure in the tire, so the tire should be replaced.
