How important is trailer braking safety? Should the pneumatic handshake valve be replaced

I believe the old drivers all know how dangerous it is for a trailer to fail in braking. The inertia of dozens of tons of trailers is unimaginable.

But in fact, the pot of trailer braking failure still needs to be carried by the main vehicle. After all, the trailer itself does not have the function of active braking. It needs to be connected with the main vehicle to obtain braking air, so as to generate braking force. The air circuit of the main vehicle and the trailer is connected with the spiral air pipe through a joint

Handshake valve is not as good as quick plug valve?

In order to facilitate decoupling, the connector connecting the air circuit of the main vehicle and the trailer should be simplified as much as possible on the premise of ensuring a certain degree of safety. Now the two most common connectors on the market are the quick plug valve and the handshake valve. There has been a detailed introduction to the handshake valve before (what is the truck handshake valve? You will know after reading this article), so what is the difference between the two?

Is the handshake valve stuck in the leakage valve?

The quick plug valve requires card friends to get off the car for inspection from time to time or rely on rich experience to judge the braking effect of the trailer from the brake foot feeling, which is troublesome and dangerous. Even so, why do people prefer to use quick plug valves? The reason is that there is air leakage in the handshake valve. Many card friends also feed back that air leakage in the connector may lead to weakening of braking performance or drag braking, either of which is very serious.

But here, the truck MBP will refute the rumor for everyone. The sealing effect of the handshake valve is very good under normal coupling. If there is air leakage, it may be due to the following reasons.

The sealing ring of the handshake valve is aged or worn. The sealing performance of the handshake valve depends on the sealing gasket. The sealing ring will be damaged if it is not aligned during long-term use or docking. It needs to be replaced in time to ensure better air tightness.

The size difference between the two connectors of the handshake valve is too large. Although the handshake valve has different models, the standard molds manufactured by various manufacturers are different. If the tolerance dimension deviation is too large, it will cause difficulty in coupling the two joints, resulting in air leakage in the air circuit.

As long as driver friends pay more attention to their use at ordinary times, high-quality handshake valve with more advanced manufacturing technology and more reliable connection mode is a better choice for gas circuit connector. Here I would also like to remind you that when the temperature in the north is too low in winter, you should pay more attention to the coupling state of the handshake valve.
